Artifact # 1

My Italy Hat

I love hats, especially my Italy hat! This artifact is very important to me it reminds me of where my family comes from and reminds me of the love that I have for this country. I have been to Italy too many times to count starting from when I was born. I used to go to Italy every two years to visit my Grandma and Aunt. My dads mom and sister still live in Italy. They did not come over to Canada like my dad and his other sister did. They have a house there and when my Grandpa was a live he built us a house next door to his. The last time I went to italy was 5 years ago. The reason why I wear my hat is because I am proud to be Italian. As a teacher in training I feel that sharing this artifact can teach kids that its ok to show off your love and pride in something. Kids do not have to be ashamed or embarrassed of anything in their lives. If it is something they love they will continue to wear it. The reason I say this is because I have been made fun of for constantly wearing my Italy hat everywhere I go. I don't have to wear it on occasions such as the world cup or euro cup to emphasize who I am rooting for. I wear this hat any time I want simply because I love it and also to make a bad hair day a little bit better.

This is my brother and I. He is my inspiration and role model. He is a teacher for the public board. He's been teaching for almost 10 years and loves what he does. I hope to be as great of a teacher as he is. He is dedicated to all his students and they all look up to him.

The last picture there is a picture of my Grandma's house in Italy. We are from the Southern end of the Boot. Our family is from Calabria. The house that my family built for us is just in front of where that door is. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to go and visit my families hometown and be able to stay in close proximity to them.
